Michigan Avenue

Michigan Ave

The median along Michigan Avenue is spruced up with great color…the entire downtown was the same, with flowers and plants everywhere. Chicago makes the most of the summer months, knowing what what’s in store during winter!

Brooklyn Botanical Garden

Garden Wall

Instead of a day in Manhattan, we decided to venture to Brooklyn for something new and different. The Brooklyn Botanical Garden is an oasis in the middle of the city, with peaceful paths, lush green foliage, and more than its share of colorful blooms.

Shady Garden

Daisy Variety

We were told the shady garden was just outside the admission office/gift shop of the Berkshire Botanical Garden. Being late morning and the peak of summer, shady spots were few and far between, but I was able to find this pair of daisies (?) grabbing as much shade as they could. The blossom standing front and center wasn’t getting much shade, but maybe it will get a turn later in the day as the sun shifts position…well, technically it’s the earth that shifts. 🙂

Roses Close to Home

Orange Rose

For the past 2 years, I have ventured to Yaddo in Saratoga Springs in June to capture photos in the beautiful rose garden. This past weekend I was reminded there is a rose garden in Schenectady’s Central Park, much closer to home! I went in the late afternoon, hoping the harsh light of a sunny day would be under control. The colors were marvelous, although many blossoms were past their prime. As I hunted around, I found some lovely samples for this year’s rose photos.
