A Sunday afternoon with little to do, had me in want of a little culture. I have always admired the works of the painter Thomas Cole. He is know as the father of the Hudson River School, and defined landscape as a new style painting. After frequent trips to the Catskills from NYC, he eventually settled in the village of Catskill where his home is known as Cedar Grove. A view like this from his front porch, must have added to his inspiration.
