Nevada silver heiress Theresa Fair Oelrichs commissioned the construction of Rosecliff at a cost of $2.5 million in 1899. At one point, this mansion was not maintained during the winter months, and all the pipes froze and burst. The damage was extensive, and the house was auctioned off for a mere $21,000. It has been restored to its previous grandeur, and several movies have been shot on location at Rosecliff, including The Great Gatsby and True Lies. The home is available for private events such as weddings.
