When visiting the mansions of Newport, Rhode Island, I was impressed by the lavish lifestyle. The Breakers, built by Cornelius Vanderbilt, goes above and beyond anything imaginable, including not gold, but platinum leaf on the wall panels. This was a summer home, used only 3 months out of the year for parties and socializing. The dining room alone is 2,400 square feet. There was a staff of 40 to maintain the home and provide service the the Vanderbilt family and their guests.
