Power of Water

The power of water can be so beneficial, but it can be so disastrous. As someone who appreciates historical places, I loved taking a ride through Schoharie County, and stopping at the Blenheim Covered Bridge. It was built over the Schoharie Creek in 1854, and was known at the longest single span covered bridge in the world. The tropical storm Irene destroyed the bridge as it flooded the entire Schoharie Valley. The creek has flooded the valley many times in my life. I am sure over the Blenheim Bridge’s 150 year lifespan, it withstood countless storms and floods. Although I did not suffer losses directly, the destruction of favorite places, made it genuinely personal.
